GERMANY 🇩🇪.⁣

✅ The City of BERLIN becomes a pioneer by enacting an anti-discrimination law relating to public officials.

✅ The Police are directly concerned in the fight against discrimination linked to race.⁣

✅ Some Police Unions are outraged at „widespread suspicion“ against the Police. ⁣

One provision particularly irritates opponents of the new system : in the event of an accusation of discrimination, the Police will now have to prove that they were not guilty of such acts. Until now, it was up to the alleged victim to demonstrate that she /he had been discriminated against.

Police Unions are particularly virulent, accusing the new law of throwing suspicion on all police officers and of demanding that a potential suspect prove that he is not guilty.

✅ This law also concerns : ⁣

📍discrimination by “mysogine jokes” before a third party by officials, ⁣

📍 entry bans encountered by blind people with a guide dog, ⁣

📍 any Police checks on ethnic profil.

✅ Victims of racial discrimination, based on religion, gender or disability, will now be able to claim damages.
