The rights of third-country nationals entering or staying in the European Union are often not respected.
This is sometimes because of :
- insufficient implementation of legislation ;
- poor knowledge of fundamental rights ;
- inadequately trained civil servants ;
- and sometimes simply due to discrimination and xenophobia.
