World Refugee Day is celebrated every year on 20 June, following the adoption of resolution 55/76 of the General Assembly of the UN on December 4, 2000. On June 20, coinciding with the adoption of the Convention 1951 relating to the status of refugees.

As pointed out by UNICEF – FRANCE : « By signing the International Convention of Children’s Rights, France and its European neighbors are committed to ensuring the rights of all children present on their territory, without distinction. These children come to us, whatever the reason, the means and the purpose, have the right to be protected, to have access to health, to education, to decent living conditions … and we are duty bound to provide them with these conditions ».
