20 June 2016 : World Refugee Day. Children of Refugees.

World Refugee Day is celebrated every year on 20 June, following the adoption of resolution 55/76 of the General Assembly of the UN on December 4, 2000. On June 20, coinciding with the adoption of the Convention 1951 relating to the status of refugees.

As pointed out by UNICEF – FRANCE : « By signing the International Convention of Children’s Rights, France and its European neighbors are committed to ensuring the rights of all children present on their territory, without distinction. These children come to us, whatever the reason, the means and the purpose, have the right to be protected, to have access to health, to education, to decent living conditions … and we are duty bound to provide them with these conditions ». Objective : To provide for material and legal assistance to migrants, such as asylum-seekinrefugees, and children of migrants, in CALAIS, FRANCE : 

  • with detailed information  on children’ s rights ;
  • with emergency power generators on the spot, to help them in a practical manner.

Location of the action : CALAIS, FRANCE.

Means and resources deployed:

20 Juin 2016 : Journée Mondiale des Réfugiés. Enfants des Réfugiés.

La Journée Mondiale des Réfugiés est célébrée chaque année le 20 juin, suite à l’adoption de la résolution 55/76 de l’Assemblée générale de l’ONU, le 4 décembre 2000. Le 20 juin coïncide avec l’adoption de la Convention de 1951 relative au statut des réfugiés.

Comme le rappelle l’UNICEF – FRANCE : « En signant la Convention Internationale des Droits de l’Enfant, la France et ses voisins européens se sont engagés à garantir les droits de tous les enfants présents sur leur territoire, sans distinction. Ces enfants qui arrivent chez nous, quels qu’en soient la raison, les moyens et le but, ont le droit d’être protégés, d’avoir accès à la santé, à l’éducation, à des conditions de vie dignes… Et nous avons le devoir de les leur assurer ». (Sources : https://www.unicef.fr/article/accueillons-dignement-les-enfants-refugies-et-migrants).

Notre objectif : apporter une aide juridique et matérielle aux personnes migrantes, demandeurs d’asile, et à leurs enfants, à CALAIS : 

  • en leur donnant une information détaillée sur les droits des enfants ; 
  • en envoyant sur place des groupes électrogènes d’urgence, pour les aider de manière concrète.

Moyens mis en oeuvre : 

Juin 2016 : Pour la Journée Mondiales des Réfugiés, l’Observatoire Européen de la Non-Discrimination et des droits fondamentaux a notamment envoyé plusieurs groupes électrogènes sur le site de CALAIS, FRANCE, pour aider les migrants et leurs enfants. 

Domaines d’intervention ciblés par l’Agence des droits fondamentaux de l’Union Européenne : Droits des enfants. Droit d’asile, Migrations et Frontières. Combat contre la pauvreté, contre l’exclusion sociale et en faveur de l’inclusion sociale.
